Lesley Green

Lesley Green is head candidate for Group G.

I work as a bookkeeper and orgainse the twice yearly Bellingen Plant Fair. have lived in the Bellingen Shire for 13 years, am a keen cyclist, and have three grown up children. Due to the flexible nature of my work commitments I am able to commit my time to representing you and the community on Council.

I am active in the Bellingen Shire Residents' Association, Bellingen Community Markets, and the Nambucca Family Service in the Bellingen Shire.

I have been an owner builder and also been on the management committees of schools and child care facilities and the Bellingen Youth Centre.

As Councillor and independent community representative, I will promote healthy open communication between Council and our community. I will consult with and represent vigorously and impartially your needs and views from our diverse community, from plateau to valley to seaboard.

I will promote an open and accountable Council, sound financial management, sustainable development and strategic planning to meet current and future needs within the scope of our resources. An important goal is to preserve and enhance the unique natural, built, and cultural heritage of our Shire.

I will do my best to ensure that any new policy or development application receives the closest scrutiny, extensive community consultation, and reflects the wishes and best interests of our changing community.

Planning for a sustainable future is important. I am keen to work within our community to develop effective adaptation and resilience to challenges faced by our changing climate, the uncertainty of our oil-future and global warming.

Supporting local sustainable business initiatives, reducing energy usage, improved public transport solutions, pedestrian and cycle access and services are some solutions.

Advocating for improved services and facilities for youth, elder and disabled residents of our community is a priority, including youth centres, low-cost/maintenance housing options and allied health services for older people.

Please feel free to contact me with your views or concerns.
