The truth about the Church Street toilets

There have been a number of letters to the editor in the Courier Sun recently asking the Council to fix the Church Street Public toilets because they are unhygienic, an eyesore and set a bad impression of Bellingen to visitors.

Lesley wondered why the toilets in such a bad state, when Council is keen to promote tourism in the Shire.

'I spoke to Mayor Mark Troy about the state of the toilets and the bad impression they leave on our visitors, not to mention the unsanitary conditions that both visitors and locals alike have to experience. He told me that the toilet block and the land it is on is is fact not owned by the Council, and that council has been trying to purchase the land for many years."

There is good news in the pipeline! Watch this space for further updates.
